Jakub Charvát

Mgr. Jakub Charvát graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague and simultaneously pursued studies in English law at the British Law Centre. During his studies he worked as a paralegal at a Prague law firm and as an intern at the Parliamentary Institute, before dedicating himself fully to the field of technology.

He co-founded the legal-tech startup Lawrence, which focuses on bridging law and technology — particularly AI. He continues to develop professionally there to this day. Lawrence created the eponymous tool aimed at streamlining legal research and document work, which has been recognised in competitions such as Nastartujte se from Komerční banka, the Start It accelerator from ČSOB, and the Technology Incubation programme from CzechInvest.

Jakub Charvát focuses not only on the practical use of artificial intelligence in legal and advisory practice — a subject he frequently lectures on — but also on its legal dimensions, especially AI criminality, criminal liability for AI-caused harm, and the possibility of AI bearing criminal responsibility itself.
